Earlier, Wal-Mart announced plans to install solar panels at about 22 of its stores and distribution centers in Hawaii and California. It expects the stores to save on utility bills starting the first day of each system's operation and estimates the systems will reduce its annual greenhouse-gas emissions by 8,000 to 10,000 metric tons.
