LOS ANGELES – Retailing giant Wal-Mart may have fired the first shot in a renewed war for consumers’ back-to-school budget dollars, the L.A. Times reported today.
Wal-Mart announced Monday that it would be cutting prices on some 16,000 items in an effort to woo back customers who’ve fled to other retailers.
The cuts will be accompanied by an ad campaign advising shoppers how to save money in the face of rising gas prices, the Times said.
